    101 Honest Things About Me

    I prefer winter weather to summer
    A good rainy day makes me happy
    I lived in Northumberland, England for several months in 1994
    I never had an interest in history until I lived in England
    I am hopelessly addicted to mochas, so I bought my own espresso machine
    I am a smoker and I want to quit, but I am afraid that I won’t be able to
    I grow my own fresh herbs for cooking
    I never went to college
    I have 2 children, a son 15 and a daughter 3 1/2
    I live with my boyfriend, whom I have known since I was 8 years old
    I help run an online support group for parents who have children with mental illness and behavioral disorders
    My son suffers from severe ADHD, Bipolar Disorder among many other diagnosis
    I don’t work so that I can be an available support system for my son
    My family doesn’t understand why I don’t work and we haven’t seen each other in years
    Not working has left us with a limited income to work with, but we live within our means and do fairly well
    Someday I hope I will be able to travel again and see far off places
    I have strong political views
    I am stubborn and opinionated
    I am strong and unconventional
    Some would be nice and call me eccentric, some just call me crazy
    I attended an Art school as a child, which is where I met my boyfriend
    I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area
    When I was 12 I was a swim teacher and a synchronized swimmer
    I HATE housework
    There are days that I am jealous of my boyfriend for being able to go to work
    I learned to sail when I was 15 and in the Sea Scouts
    I believe in letting my children make their own mistakes
    I am always there for my children when they do make their own mistakes
    The air in the Central Valley is killing my lungs
    I believe a socialized health care program for all residents of the US would be a good idea
    I believe that all people should be able to have a free and appropriate education straight through college
    I can’t believe that Arnold is Governor of California, we would have been better off with Gallagher, at least we could have laughed our way into where we are now
    I wanted to be a doctor
    Now I want to have my own shop for fiber artists
    I prefer living in the country instead of the city even though I was born and raised a city girl
    My aunt taught me to crochet when I was 8, I taught myself how to knit when I was 22
    I have just recently begun knitting again
    I have neglected my health for years and now I am paying for it
    I was very athletic as a teenager, I had a ton of sport related injuries, and that has caused me to have severe ostearthritis now
    I don’t believe in following the crowd, I am an individualist
    It matters to me that I never intentionally hurt anyone emotionally, mentally or physically
    I believe in Karma
    I do not follow organized religion
    I do not share my beliefs, or if I even have any
    I have a Mac and I know how to use it
    I love gardening
    Unless I am using a roto tiller, lawn mower, shovel or hoe, I never wear shoes when I am gardening
    I love all colors, but am partial to earth tones, deep greens and jewel tones
    I was born on my great grandmother’s birthday, whom I never knew
    I always put my children and boyfriend before myself
    I am a great procrastinator
    When I feel like it, I am a gourmet cook
    I collect thimbles and cookbooks
    One of my favorite cookbooks is one I bought from my milkman in England that uses both metric and imperial measurements
    I have two birds, Othello the parakeet and Jack the Cocktiel. Jack, who is a common gray, adopted us last summer as he had gotten away from his owner and found my bird feeder and birdbath. He flew down one day and was happy when I brought out my old cage for him. He hopped right in and doesn’t like to be handled. I looked for the owner, but never could find them.
    I like growing my own vegetables and love how they taste
    The only music I dislike is rap
    I believe all people should be judged by the kindness in their hearts (if they have any) and not by outward appearances or life circumstances
    I always try to help those who have not been as fortunate as me
    I have been married and divorced twice, both were abusive relationships that I left
    I believe chocolate may be the singular most perfect food
    I can inhale a pound of chocolate without batting an eyelash and have been known to hoard my chocolate
    When I was growing up, my parents were hippies and sometimes I still look like a hippie
    I love Victorian houses and lived in several in the San Francisco Bay Area through the years
    I still crochet, but mostly thread crochet
    The largest crochet project I have ever made was a round pineapple table cloth that took 3000 yards of thread and a month to make
    Most items that I make end up being adopted by someone who admires them
    Before my daughter was born, I could read 2-3 novels in a couple of hours, now I hardly have the time since I now have to keep her out of everything
    I was the typical tragic teenager and wrote dark poetry, which unfortunately has been lost through the years
    When I was 17, my father once refused to talk to me or acknowledge me when he came home to find that I had pink and blue hair on purpose
    The only piercings I have had were my ears (3 holes each) and my nose which has since closed up since I took the stud out when my daughter kept banging my nose. (Yes, that really hurt!) I haven’t decided if I am going to re-pierce it or not
    I truly believe that I am weird
    I know how to do some work on cars, I used to date a mechanic and I worked in a gas station
    I don’t do drugs, only take prescription medication if I really need it and I rarely drink with the exceptional glass of wine a couple of times a year
    I am rarely what anyone expects, and I am usually what they didn’t expect
    I have an ornery streak in me a mile wide and love playing jokes on people
    I love playing backgammon
    I love the ocean and the mountains, but I feel most at home and at peace with the ocean
    My dream home would be in the middle of nowhere with lots of land
    There are some wild edible mushrooms, plants and herbs that I can identify
    I am sensitive about my weight, but do know that I carry it better than most people. I would like to be able to lose a good bit of this weight
    I have lived in very good neighborhoods and in neighborhoods that are scarier than most horror films
    I am not much for talking on the phone, my boyfriend talks on the phone more than I do
    I took 5 years of Spanish in middle and high school, and still can’t speak fluently
    My mother used to speak German to me when I was a child and I could understand her, now I can’t understand more than a couple of words of German.
    On a daily basis, I remind everyone in the house multiple times that I am NOT the maid
    My favorite time of day is early in the morning when everyone else is asleep. I like to go outside with my coffee (sometimes tea) and just listen to the world around me
    I actually LIKE brussel sprouts, lima beans and liver and onions. No one else in the house does though
    I rarely wear makeup or dress up. I like casual and natural
    I do actually own makeup and do know how to use it
    I do own several nice dresses, but hardly wear them. I prefer yoga style pants or loose long skirts
    My boyfriend is the clothes horse in the family, he has much more than I do and continues to “add” to his wardrobe
    When I spend money on myself, it’s fiber, fiber, more fiber and of course computer stuff
    Just 3 years ago, I was computer illiterate
    I believe that the American Government is no longer of the people, by the people, for the people, but a corrupt institution run with a corporate mentality
    I would not be surprised if the American Government has a “file” on me since I am outspoken about them and have written to government officials in the past
    If someone tells me I can’t do something, I will prove them wrong. I have been called tenacious
    I would not be surprised if there is an American Revolution within my children’s life time if the government continues on the path it is on
    I believe it is high time that mankind begins to take protecting the environment seriously and start taking steps to heal the damage that has already been done
    I love listening to music my mother used to play ~ The Beatles, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan
    I still like blowing dandelions
