Dirty Laundry

Now I am not one to tell tales out of school, but the boyfriend has done something for which there is just no excuse. Over the blistering hot weekend, tempers were short, and well, you can imagine that we didn’t get along very well. I won’t go into details here, but needless to say, the boyfriend knew he was in deep doo-doo. Last night when he came home, he took only one step inside the door and looked at me. He began with the sweetest apology, telling me that he bought something for me as an “I’m sorry I was such an insensitive jerk who doesn’t appreciate all that you do” gift. Before he could finish, of course I said what any fiber junkie would, “you bought me yarn??”
Nope.
Okay, let’s try again. “Some new knitting needles??”
Nope.
Fine, I give. Then he tells me he has brought home someone who will treat me the way I deserve to be treated. Someone who will treat me better than he does. I look behind him, but there’s no one standing there. Just him, with a paper bag in his hands. I look at him as if he is delusional. He gives me a sheepish look and from behind the bag, pulls out Mr. Wonderful.

I am sure that everyone has heard of Mr. Wonderful. You press his stomach and he says things like relax and he will make dinner, or he wants to cuddle. Yep, the imaginary, too good to be true, and what secrets are you hiding kind of guy. I took one look at him and told him he will memorize everything that Mr. Wonderful says and put it into practice. Of course he just laughed at me. Figures.

I know in my silence I did a good amount of knitting, and of course there are already other projects on the needles. About a week or so ago, Christie of Superstarra-ville had mentioned Knit Picks Shine on her blog. Well, I took a look. I liked what I saw and decided to pick some up. I had fallen in love with a camisole pattern from Last Minute Knitted Gifts, but the pattern calls for silk. Out of my price range for the moment. The shine is working up nicely and has a fabulous softness and drape that was really a surprise. This is one of my Christmas Gift Projects, and I can clearly see that I am going to have to make one for myself. The pattern, so far, is very simple and easy to do. Even the lace edging is simple and doesn’t require vast amounts of consciousness to do. A semi conscious state will do. I am at about 11 inches, knitting in the round and three more to go of the main body. It is working up fairly quickly for me and I am really enjoying the softness of shine.

  1. Ooh… I just got my Shine in the mail today. I am going to make a baby blanket for my soon-to-be nephew and was wondering how it knit up.

  2. thanx for the laugh!Mr. Wonderful and semiconciousness…*smiles*

  3. I’ve been using Shine for the shrug I’m working on. It may be a new favorite for me, especially once you factor in the great price. I was just thinking I needed to buy some more.

  4. Aw thanks for the shout out, girl! Yes…iceberg, ice cubes, ice caves are all looking mighty fine right about now. I think it’s so cute that your boy bought you Mr. Wonderful. New needles would have been even better, but hey maybe he’ll know for next time!
