I finally have a few minutes of quiet here to sit down and blog. It’s been a while, and I feel like I am on a whirlwind ride in a tornado! Hopefully though, things will slow down and I will find more time for the things I enjoy for myself.
I did manage to do a good bit of spinning over Thanksgiving weekend.
This……

became 888 yards of this in a fingering/sport weight…….

So then I rummaged through my stash and found this …….

which you may remember from this post way back when. Then I decided to do this to it….

and Navajo plied it into this……

Do you see it? The skeins are all from the same roving that I dyed and they go from light to dark! This was magical to spin up, watching the colors appear and blend in ways I never anticipated. I think I ended up with somewhere in the neighborhood of 640 yards in a sport weight and it has already become a pair of socks for me with enough left over to make a pair for Sydney as well. I have one of hers finished and hopefully will finish the mate soon. No photos of them as of yet, seems I forgot to charge the battery for my camera.
Now, what has been keeping me away from blogging? Tons of doctor’s appointments, lab testing and the like for Nick. He never started the lithium as his EKG came back borderline for a possible problem called Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome. Basically, the electical signal to his heart may be messed up and this can cause arythmia, palpitations, shortness of breath and chest pain. He has finally seen our family doctor and had a second EKG this past Monday. This one showed what they call inferior Q waves. On an adult, this would indicate a heart attack. But when it comes to pediatrics, it’s a whole other ball game. He is now being referred to a Pediatric Cardiologist for further evaluation.
His psychiatrist (whom I adore! Such a sweet woman!) is leaving the clinic that Nick goes to. Unfortunately her private practice doesn’t take Nick’s insurance and her rates are a bit more than we can afford. Nick’s regular doctor has agreed to prescribe Nick’s meds as long as he is stable (which he really isn’t right now) and his psychiatrist has said she will do simple phone consults to help us out. The psychiatrist that is replacing her is someone Nick has seen in the past and is a complete quack. I won’t allow Nick to go to him again. So now, I must hunt for another psychiatrist for Nick in the event that he really becomes unstable.
As far as Nick and his behaviors, he is beginning to straighten out some. I have been working extensively with his teacher to target both home and school behaviors, and sure enough, we are pulling him through this better than expected.
I will try to blog again before Christmas, but I can’t promise anything. So if you don’t hear from me, know that you are all in my thoughts and I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas!

so very productive!
hope another angel will come your (and nick’s) way soon! Happy New Year!

From your comments on PinkLemonTwist – I was getting the impression you didn’t spin. Hmmmmmmm. Your spinning is gorgeous. Your fiber is delicious! You do such beautiful work. I had to come and check out your site. Very nice!

Oh my! It spun up so fabulous. I imagine the socks are smashing. I can’t wait to see more photos.
Sorry about losing a good doctor, especially since it took y’all a while to get settled. I’ll send warm fuzzy thoughts that the new situation will go well.

Glad to hear that, although the life is still crazy, you are sane, dealing, spinning, and knitting.
Happy Holidays to you and yours, Christine!
