Where Does The Time Go?

What a day it has been here so far. Full schedule and only the bare minimum has been accomplished. The end of Nick’s school year is upon us. Officially, the high school traditional track is over at the end of next week and Nick will be on summer vacation. Who am I kidding, Nick is already on summer vacation. He hasn’t been back, no matter how much I’ve been working with him. We’ve been playing it by ear day by day and he will say he’s ready, then the night before the return he becomes so anxious that he ends up staying up almost all night and sleeping most of the next day. On the nights he does manage to get a decent night of sleep, he wakes in the morning so stressed out that he becomes ill. I’ve been going easy on him, somewhat. And the school has been understanding. They have to be, after all, if this had been handled properly, it wouldn’t have gotten so blown out of proportion and Nick wouldn’t be quite as stressed out over returning.

Today, Sydney had her physical so that she can start kindergarten in July. That’s right. July. I get one home and one at school. Elementary school is year round. Both middle and high school are traditional, but not the exact same days. Having the kids on two different schedules is really going to mess with me, but at least the majority of the time, I will only have one at home and chaos can be kept to a minimum. Sydney had to get a few of her immunizations. I guess somewhere I got side tracked with all the other things that we have been dealing with and she wasn’t quite up to date. But she is now, thankfully, and the doctor said it shouldn’t be a problem. I was also a little worried that Sydney might be a little overweight. She’s a chubby little thing, but again, she’s fine. She falls within the higher weight range for her height, and she’s in a growth spurt to top it off. It seems like overnight that most of her clothes have shrunken drastically! Time for me to get busy, pull out the patterns and fabric for capri’s, shorts, dresses and skirts. I also need to plan for the cooler months that will come. A couple of nice new sweaters to help keep her toasty, new hat, scarf and mittens… my kids have no idea how lucky they are that I know how to do all the things that I do! I can easily make most of their clothes if I choose to.

Weekend plans are kind of up in the air right now. Spurg may or may not be here. Earlier in the week we found out that his uncle (Spurg is older by 3 days….) is having some major health issues and has been hospitalized. Spurg may go up to the bay area Saturday and then come home on Sunday while I stay home with the kids… but before we know if this will be our weekend, Spurg has to call again to see if his uncle is allowed to have visitors. Everything is real hush right now and it doesn’t seem like anyone really knows anything at this point.

I will spend some time spinning this weekend. I need to finish up some batts so I can play with an experiment of some rolags from one of my “dye-pot distaster” rovings… if the kids are nice this weekend, there may even be photos in the next post!

Last, but not least, I am working on something. I’m taking it slowly as it is something that I’m having to use brain cells to figure out, but if all goes well… the pattern page will be getting a little fuller…. and you only get one hint… it has something to do with that “C” word… yeah, you know the one… Crochet!

  1. Crochet?! Hush yo’ mouth! j/k. Follow what your heart and hands desire. YAY for little one is school. I think. My youngest starts PreK this July. She’ll enjoy the interaction and mommy will enjoy the quiet. So, wanna make a bet on who’ll cry the hardest? hee ;)

  2. I had my 3 kids at 3 different schools for a couple of years and it was a royal pain in the butt. I wish you much patience and organization.

Oooh I love the “C” word. Can’t wait to see what you’re cooking up! :)

  3. Oh how I would hate to have the kids on differenc schedules! But it might be a good thing to have 1 home at a time during breaks. I wish I could do that. 3 for 3 months is a killer!

  4. I hope you guys have a great weekend! I can’t wait to see the pattern, even if it does involve the C word!

  5. OH boy!!! Can I take credit? Ha ha ha! What are you working on?!?!

I hope you have a great weekend!
